Classification and use of ferrochrome
Classification and use of ferrochrome
Classification and use of ferrochrome:
Ferrochrome is divided into high carbon ferrochrome according to different carbon content, including charging grade ferrochrome (C≦10%), medium carbon ferrochrome (C≦4.0%), low carbon ferrochrome (C≦0.5%), microcarbon ferrochrome (C≦0.15%), etc. Commonly used silicon chromium alloys, ferrochromium nitride, etc.;
Ferrochrome is mainly used as an alloy additive for steelmaking, and in the past it was added in the late refining stage of steelmaking. Smelting stainless steel and other low-carbon steel grades must use low-carbon, micro-carbon ferrochrome, so the production of refined ferrochrome has once been developed on a large scale. Due to the improvement of the steelmaking process, when using the AOD method (see outside the furnace refining) and other steel grades such as stainless steel, the furnace is loaded with carbon ferrochrome (mainly charging grade ferrochrome), so it is only necessary to add low and micro-carbon ferrochrome in the later stage to adjust the composition, so the main point of ferrochrome production now is to refine carbon ferrochrome.
The above are some suggestions from Kangxin International Metallurgy, I hope to help you!
