Ferrosilicon is also called ferrosilicon

Source:Anyang Kangxin Metallurgy Furnace Charge Co LtdAdd Time:2022-11-22

Scientific name (alias): Ferrosilicon is also called ferrosilicon.

Model: Ferrosilicon 75#——(1) National standard 75# refers to the actual silicon ≥ 72%; (2) Hard 75 ferrosilicon refers to the actual silicon ≥ 75%;

State: natural block, thickness about 100mm. (Whether there are cracks on the appearance, whether it is discolored by hand, whether the percussion sound is crisp, thickness, cross-section, off-white, with air holes) Packaging: bulk or ton bag packaging.

Main producing areas: Ningxia, Inner Mongolia, Qinghai, Shanxi, Gansu, Sichuan and Henan

Matters needing attention: Ferrosilicon is afraid of moisture, and the natural block is easily pulverized when it encounters water, and the silicon content will decrease accordingly.

Raw material of ferrosilicon:

Ferrosilicon is made by smelting coke, steel shavings (iron oxide scale), and quartz (or silica) in an electric furnace. It is an important auxiliary material for cast iron and steelmaking, used for deoxidation and adjusting the chemical composition of steel.

Application fields:

(1) Used as a deoxidizer and alloying agent in the steelmaking industry. In order to obtain steel with qualified chemical composition and ensure the quality of steel, deoxidation must be carried out in the final stage of steelmaking. The chemical affinity between silicon and oxygen is very high, so ferrosilicon is a strong deoxidizer for steelmaking for precipitation and diffusion deoxidation. Adding a certain amount of silicon to steel can significantly improve the strength, hardness and elasticity of steel, so it is used in smelting structural steel (containing 0.40-1.75% silicon), tool steel (containing SiO.30-1.8%), spring steel ( When containing SiO.40-2.8%) and silicon steel for transformers (containing silicon 2.81-4.8%), ferrosilicon is also used as an alloying agent. In addition, in the steelmaking industry, ferrosilicon powder is often used as a heating agent for steel ingot caps to improve the quality and recovery rate of steel ingots by utilizing the characteristic that ferrosilicon powder can release a large amount of heat when it is burned at high temperature.

(2) Used as an inoculant and nodulizer in the cast iron industry. Cast iron is an important metal material in modern industry. It is cheaper than steel, easy to melt and smelt, has excellent casting performance and much better shock-absorbing ability than steel, especially ductile iron, whose mechanical properties are at or close to those of steel. Mechanical behavior. Adding a certain amount of ferrosilicon to cast iron can prevent the formation of carbides in iron and promote the precipitation and spheroidization of graphite. Therefore, in the production of ductile iron, ferrosilicon is an important inoculant (to help precipitate graphite) and nodularizer .

(3) Used as a reducing agent in ferroalloy production. Not only the chemical affinity between silicon and oxygen is great, but also the carbon content of high silicon ferrosilicon is very low. Therefore, high-silicon ferrosilicon (or silicon alloy) is a reducing agent commonly used in the production of low-carbon ferroalloys in the ferroalloy industry.

(4) Use in other fields. Finely ground or atomized ferrosilicon powder can be used as a suspension phase in the mineral processing industry. In the welding rod manufacturing industry, it can be used as a coating for welding rods. High-silicon ferrosilicon can be used in the chemical industry to make products such as silicone. Among these uses, the steelmaking industry, foundry industry and ferroalloy industry are the largest users of ferrosilicon. They consume more than 90% of ferrosilicon in total. Among the various grades of ferrosilicon, 75% ferrosilicon is currently the most widely used. In the steelmaking industry, about 3-5kg of 75% ferrosilicon is consumed per 1 ton of steel produced.

Several major factors affecting the price of ferrosilicon:

(1) Electricity price factor. The standard power consumption for producing 1 ton of ferrosilicon is about 9000 kWh, and 90% of the cost of ferrosilicon is electricity. For every one cent increase in electricity price, the cost of ferrosilicon will increase by about 100 yuan per ton. Therefore The regional differences in electricity charges and the increase in electricity prices are the main factors for changes in ferrosilicon prices.

(2) Raw materials, coke, steel shavings, and quartz (or silica) are raw materials for ferrosilicon production. Changes in their prices will affect the production cost of ferrosilicon at any time.

(3) The National Environmental Protection Agency controls pollution.
