The iron in ferrosilicon is derived from the steel chips in the charge, according to the requirements of the quality of ferrosilicon, only ordinary carbon steel chips are allowed in smelting, and alloy steel chips are not allowed, such as stainless steel, high chromium, high manganese steel and so on. Therefore, smelting ferrosilicon such as alloy steel chips will form scrap. Pig iron filings should also not be used because of their high phosphorus content. Smelting ferrosilicon can not use non-ferrous metal chips such as copper, aluminum, etc. Therefore, in order to ensure the quality of ferrosilicon, only ordinary carbon steel chips are allowed in smelting. Steel chips with severe rust can not be used, because of its many impurities, iron content is not easy to control during smelting, and at the same time, the strength of steel chips with severe rust is poor, there are many powders, and the participation in the furnace affects the permeability of the material surface. Therefore, the iron content of the steel chips used in the rules is greater than 95%, and the appearance should be clean, and no obvious impurities are allowed. The length of the steel chips should not be too long to prevent uneven mixing and infarction of the lower pipe, and the overly long steel chips also make the charge over-charged unevenly, affecting the uneven three-phase load. For this reason, the length of regular steel chips is not more than 100 mm.
