Smelting technology of ferroalloys

Source:Anyang Kangxin Metallurgy Furnace Charge Co LtdAdd Time:2022-07-08

There are many metallurgical products, and the metallurgical methods of each product are different, so what is the smelting technology of ferroalloys? Here's a look:

(1) Flux method: The flux method of smelting ferroalloys is the use of carbonaceous materials, silicon or other metals as reducing agents, and slag materials should be added to adjust the composition and properties of slag during production. For example, the use of alkaline slag operation, the production of high carbon manganese iron.

(2) Flux-free method: The production of ferroalloys by the flux-free method generally uses carbonaceous materials as reducing agents, and there is no need to add slag materials to adjust the composition and properties of slag during production. If manganese ore is used, acid slag is used to produce high-carbon manganese iron, while obtaining low phosphorus-rich manganese slag.

(3) Slag-free method: Slag-free smelting of ferroalloys is the use of carbon reducing agent, silica or remastered alloy as raw materials, continuous smelting in the reduction furnace, products such as ferrosilicon, industrial silicon, silicon chromium alloys and so on.

(4) Slag method: Slag smelting iron alloy is in the reduction of electric furnace or refining electric furnace, the selection of reasonable slag type system and alkalinity to produce ferroalloys, the slag iron ratio is affected by different varieties and the corresponding raw material conditions and other factors, generally 0.8 ~ 1.5. Products such as high carbon ferromanganese, manganese silicon alloy, high carbon ferrochrome and so on.

(5) Continuous smelting method: Continuous smelting method is to continuously add material to the furnace according to the decline of the feed surface of the furnace, and the alloys and slag accumulated in the furnace pool are discharged regularly. Using buried arc reduction smelting, the operating power is almost balanced and stable.

(6) Batch smelting method: The intermittent smelting method is the smelting process of concentrating or adding the charge material to the furnace in batches. It is generally divided into two periods: melting and refining, and the electrode is buried in the charge during the melting period; The refining period arc is exposed, while the refining period arc furnace is exposed, the refining is completed, the alloy and slag are discharged, and then loaded with new material to continue the next furnace melting. Since the batch smelting method is carried out periodically, it is also called periodic smelting. In view of the different operating process characteristics of each period of smelting, the operating power is also different. The smelting of medium and low-carbon ferromanganese, medium, low and micro-carbon ferrochrome, etc. adopts intermittent smelting method.

The above are some suggestions from our company, I hope to help you!
